Life has not been kind. I'm looking for a friend that doesn't expect perfection and is alright with someone that has limitations due to health.

What I can do is limited by health and finances. I don't have the money to go do activities that cost a lot of money. Often I can't do many of the cheap activities, either. So the free activities are the ones I can do.

If you're the kind of person that has to do things that cost money with your friends and can't just appreciate having the company, I'm most likely not the person you're looking for.

I do love doing outdoorsy things, but I can't do them too often due to my health. So they would be a once and a while kind of thing.

If you're good to me, I am fiercely loyal, but I have also come to the point in my life where I do not accept exploitation and I will walk away when there are abusive behaviors directed at me. I am too old to play these games and I just want to live and be free from that kind of treatment.

Must be LGBT and cat friendly. Or indifferent. Indifferent works as well. (As in, you must be LGBT friendly and cat friendly, or indifferent to either or both. Not that you must be LGBT. Or that you must be a cat.)

Right now I'm looking for someone to talk to online, then maybe eventually work our way to meeting up in real life. There are many reasons why I don't want to just necessarily jump into meeting people in person right away. I like to get to know people. I've had so many bad encounters and bad friendships that I usually like to make sure a friendship actually has potential before meeting up in person. It would be nice to meet people in my local area to eventually meet up with, but I'm not against online friends from all over as well.

But the month of NaNoWriMo is upon us, and if you're a NaNoWriMoer as well, maybe we can go to the same event and see if we can spot each other, rather than outright meet up. (Hey, I still like being careful. But it's also kinda fun to see if you can tell who it is you've been talking to if you both know you're going to be in the same place.)

I'm naturally nocturnal, though sometimes I'm awake during the daytime, too. Actually, I either seem to be always awake or always sleeping. Oftentimes it seems that I'm never sleeping. I've gotten quite the reputation as someone that never sleeps. (Do I ever ACTUALLY sleep? I'll never tell...)

As I said earlier, life has not been kind. I like to be cautious in my relationships with other people.

I'm not Christian, but I'm fine with Christians if you're not preachy, don't try to convert/change me, and don't live obviously contradictory lifestyles to what you claim your beliefs are. (It's one thing if you disagree with some of the teachings or mainstream beliefs, it's another if you claim to believe them but go against them.) Claiming that you'll be forgiven isn't a good enough reason to blatantly ignore your supposed faith. That's not how it works, and I can't stand those people and stopped putting up with them years ago.

Please, don't be one of those people that says "Everything happens for a reason." Keep your opinions about whatever deity you believe in and what plans they might have for me or other people to yourself. Please. Just. Please. I'll be happy to have that lovely debate with you once we actually know each other well.

I am looking for platonic friendships only. Not friends with benefits, not someone to step out on my spouse with (not even on rare occasions), nothing of that sort. STRICTLY PLATONIC. (I am emphasizing this because this has been a real issue on a few other friend making sites I've joined.)

I am really, TRULY, looking for only strictly platonic friendships. Not friendships that start out platonic and may evolve into something else. No "let's be best friends and see what the future holds for us" relationships. STRICTLY PLATONIC.

So uh... Yeah... Hi. This is me. Or rather, a little about me.

Message me if you're interested in getting to know me?

Please actually send me a MESSAGE and not just a friend request. I'd like to actually get to know you, and it's really not fair for me to spend one of my two daily conversation starting messages asking you about yourself if your profile is barren and mine isn't.

I'll say it again: PLEASE send me a MESSAGE and not a friend request. If you just send me a friend request instead of messaging me, I'll be rejecting the request. I'd like to talk to you and get to know you. And if you ignore this and just send me the friend request, well, it's inconsiderate and a glimpse at how you treat other people.

As far as personality goes, I'm rough around the edges and I know it. I'm unapologetic about it at this point in my life. I've been through a lot and put up with too much bullshit and I am just done with all of that. I don't like dancing around the truth and beating around the bush. I'm blunt. It's just how I am.

I am fiercely loyal if you're good to me, but I'm also not the type that remains loyal through abuse. Life's too short to keep putting up with that crap.

If you can get past the rough edges and pointy things, I'm actually a very loving and caring person. I can't take care of the people I love with things like money, but I do try to take care of people the best I can, in other ways, if they're ways that can help. (Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm not that kind of guy. Platonic. PLATONIC.)

Life is too short to only have one dream. But it's also important to be realistic in how successful you want to be in those goals.

I want to be...
...a mildly successful digital artist. (I'm a niche artist and I know it.)
...a mildly successful artist (traditional media). (Again, niche artist and I know it, though my traditional art is a different niche than my digital art.)
...an animator.
...a somewhat successful published author. (I'm a niche author and I know it.)
...an architect.
...a successful YouTuber. (I'd be content and consider myself successful with a thousand subscribers so I can turn on Superchat. I'm not gonna be YouTube famous and I know it. I'm a realistic guy, I probably won't get a thousand subscribers either, lol.)

And finally...to own and operate and run my own cat sanctuary/rescue/shelter specializing in black cats and special needs cats.(There's actually a lot more to it than that, but I don't want to put it all here.)
I'm a gamer. If I have to pick a favorite franchise, I guess I'd have to go with the Dragon Age franchise. But there are also a lot of other games I like and play.

I'm an aspiring digital artist and a very slowly learning aspiring animator. I am very slowly (and painfully) teaching myself to code.

I love crocheting (don't care if you think it's for women, I enjoy it and that's that). I also make jewellery.

I love origami. Especially folding cranes. I've completed the thousand crane challenge so many times it's officially reached insanity at this point.

I blog. About a lot of different things. And about nothing in particular at the same time.

I like watching shows with people. How would that work while chatting online? Why, by chatting online while watching TV, Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube, of course!

I have four cats. They're a pretty big part of my life. That's gonna be something you're just gonna have to accept and deal with. That doesn't mean you have to be crazy about my cats, that just means you need to know now that that's something you're just gonna have to be able to tolerate. Because it is. I'm a crazy cat man. It's who I am and I'm not ashamed of it. At all. (My spouse is also a crazy cat person. Though you likely won't end up interacting with my spouse, if you do, you'll have to tolerate them being a crazy cat person as well.)

I'm disabled due to several chronic medical conditions but lost my disability several years ago due to the place where I lived at the time having very questionable practices. It's complicated and I don't want to get into the details of it.

Because of my own health and because of the health of other people around me while I was growing up and other people I've known off and on throughout the years (people with bad health, as well as people in the medical field), I do have a pretty unusually large amount of working medical and pharmaceutical knowledge for someone not in the medical field. I've also learned a great deal about homeopathic/holistic medicine as well, and believe in using a balance between the two. Most people believe in one or the other, but I feel that there are just some things that one or the other can't handle well depending on what it is.

I have been known to be called a "Witch Doctor" because of my combined knowledge and my ability to treat many things holistically. I'm rather fond of that title, but only when called that by people that've gotten to know that side of me.

**Do not contact me for medical advice. I am not a medical professional. I am self-taught and I am not in the habit of giving medical/health advice to complete strangers that ask for it. (The above was not an advertisement for medical services or medical advice, it's just a big part of who I am as a person and therefore I included it.)

I really enjoy text based roleplaying. Actual roleplaying, of the interactive story telling kind, not of the sex variety. I have a little experience with tabletop and stat-based roleplaying, but it's something I'd like to get more into.

I like playing games. As in board games and card games and stuff like that. Boring, I know, but I enjoy them.

Origami. Roleplay (not sex). Draw diigital art (usual cutesy art). Game. Chat on discord. Watch stuff.

Hangout with my cats. When I'm feeling well enough to, I like to go on adventures with my giant black Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat mix.

Also, see my hobbies and interests, as well as my favorite hot spots.
I'm fine with either/mix it up!
Camping, Start a group (books, wine, etc) , Play cards, Pen pal or email pal, Just talk. gossip. catch up, Go for walks, Go for a bike ride. rollerblade, Hang out, Meet for brunch, Meet for lunch, Travel, Other
I don't really go out all that much, my "hot spots" are kinda boring compared to what most people consider hot spots.

My favorite places to hangout are places like Peach Wave and Menchies, and the Asian supermarkets (I actually prefer the Asian supermarkets, but most people don't consider supermarkets somewhere to 'hangout', so...) that are around the metro area. And Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann's and other craft stores (Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann's let me bring my giant black Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat mix into the store! It's awesome browsing through craft stores with him! Well, I think it's awesome, anyways. I'm lame, I know...) Petsmart, where my cats can watch the fish and birds...

When the weather is nice and it's not too sunny out, maybe go to a park or something and sit under a shelter, or sit in the bed of my truck with the tailgate down and the back of the camper shell up and the window of the camper shell open (usually with the Coon mix).

When able to, I like to go to Crown Center and take photographs of everything in that area. It's beautiful. Have you been to Shang Tea? They're incredible. They offer great tea tastings, for free. (Yes, the Coon mix has been there. And has even had a tea tasting.)

Hey, I warned you, I'm a crazy cat guy.

I also really love museums. Libraries are awesome. Bookstores.

That really awesome sword/weapon shop at Independence Center.

Yeah. I'm weird.
I grew up around the KCMO Metro Area, and honestly, I love this region a lot. I'd love to travel around to other parts of Missouri to go camping on the occasions that I feel up to it. Especially around the Ozarks.

I spent too damn long down in El Paso Texas. While I hated living there, there was some beautiful stuff in that region.

I loved New Mexico, and I'd love to go back. Ruidoso was gorgeous, Alamogordo, stuff around that area. Arizona was beautiful if you didn't mind the homicidal maniacs that surrounded you on the roads. I would like to see more of Arizona as well.

If finances allowed, I'd be up for pretty much road-tripping anywhere in the US. Even to Alaska! I'd love road-tripping up to Canada, too.

The only state I'm not really interested in is Hawaii. Can't exactly drive there and "Island Paradise" isn't exactly my kind of thing. Pictures of island paradise kind of scenes are beautiful and everything, but actually being in places like that don't really appeal. Not unless they're small islands next to the mainland and it's real easy to get to them. Then I'm interested. (I'm a land lover and I love to be able to drive places. Preferably in my own vehicle if possible. I also travel with my cats, and while historically they've done well in rentals, it's just easier if they know and like the vehicle they're in. It also avoids voiding any rental car rental contracts if they find out there were animals in the vehicle. I'm a practitioner of Cover Your Ass.)

I'd really love to go on road trips to the different state parks, natural landmarks, and historical and heritage sites in the US. I love that kind of stuff.

I also really want to go around to the different locations where there are supposed to be spook lights. First stop? Why, the one closest to home, of course! The Hornet Spook Light!

Outside of North America, I'd really love to go to Germany, Scotland, Ireland, England, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Wales

I used to read a lot, but I don't really read that much anymore. Most modern literature just doesn't interest me all that much. I'm mostly about the classics. Mostly.
My favorite band is Coheed & Cambria (I'm including Prize Fighter Inferno along with Coheed & Cambria since it's still them and related), but I have a very broad taste in music. However, you kinda have to get to know me a little before you get to know the weirder and more obscure stuff I like to listen to. Here I'll be listing only a handful of stuff that I listen to, and some of these I only listen to occasionally anymore, but have still had a lasting impact on my life at some point in time or another.

Starset, Black Veil Brides, Andy Black, Pierce The Veil, All Time Low, Crown The Empire, Motionless In White, Crossfade, Static X, Nightwish, Pentatonix, Lindsey Sterling, Tyler Ward, Psy, Sleeping With Sirens, Aerosmith, Nickelback, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, The Bravery, Something For Kate, Kill Hannah, Neon Trees, Breaking Benjamin, Fuel, The Cinematics, Steampowered Giraffe, Cinema Bizarre, One Republic, Shiny Toy Guns, Eminem, Falling In Reverse, Escape the Fate, 3OH!3, Foo Fighters, Enya, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Evanescense, Skillet, Frou Frou, Imogen Heap, Goo Goo Dolls, Jimmy Eat World, Zeromancer, Killswitch Engage, Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Lostprophets, Three Days Grace, Shinedown

(Yes, this really is just a very small list. And a very limited list. While there's a decent variety here, the actual range of what I listen to is much, much broader than this.)
My usual favourite restaurant, Two words: Pizza + beer
Night Owl - I like to stay up late!
whole chocolate milk (silly, I know, but it's an honest answer)
I don't drink
